Cyanotype: A Study In Light

Explore the science and art of cyanotypes, a photographic printing process involving the use of chemicals and exposure to light to reveal stunning blue and white imagery. We’ll explore producing cyanotypes on paper and fabric with natural and artificial items and light. Students will leave with a comprehensive book full of samples and have plenty of time to play around with the endless possibilities of cyanotype.

We'll use seasonal produce to create tasty lower sugar preserves.

Light snacks will be provided, feel free to BYOB.

All materials will be provided and each participant will leave with a jar of preserves, a lovely "How to Can" booklet, and the knowledge of how to confidently can fruit spreads. 

Please bring a kitchen towel so you can easily carry your hot jar at the end of the class.

CraftSanity Small Loom Sampler Workshop

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to dive into the fiber arts, this is your chance to learn to weave on small looms you get to take home with you.

In this class, students will learn circular and tapestry weaving techniques on small round and rectangular CraftSanity Looms. All supplies will be provided and students will go home with a handprinted, CraftSanity drawstring bag to hold their new portable CraftSanity looms, yarn and other weaving supplies.

This introductory class is open to weavers of all skill levels. No previous weaving experience necessary.

Mindfull Calligraphy

Join us for an evening of hand lettering + creative playfulness through mindful practices + creating space to be present.

What all will be part of the workshop? You will learn basic hand lettering techniques through the lens of mindful practices. (Think centering breath, awareness…) We will guide you through basic techniques, various lettering styles as well as give you time to create your own lettering art.  All you need to bring is your lovely self, and if you would like, a word or phrase you want to practice writing out during class. We have put a lot of thought, heart + dreaming into this workshop, and we can’t wait to spend the evening with you!

Art Club is an ongoing workshop with monthly events to explore various artistic media and techniques. Attendees will learn alongside professional artist and adjunct Professor Devin DuMond, have dedicated time/space to create, and the incentive to continue working throughout the month on their piece to share at the next gathering. *** Price includes supplies needed for the session. ***

🔲 May’s featured medium is powdered graphite.
One of Devin’s favorite drawing materials, you’ll learn how to work with graphite using brushes and subtractive drawing techniques.

Botanical Resin Casting

Participants will learn the basics of botanical resin working, including :

  • how to press your own botanicals

  • composition of resin art

  • casting with molds and bezel settings

  • trouble shooting with resin

  • know-how to move forward in resin working

Each attendee will also get to create and keep their own piece of botanical art of their choosing, either a necklace or keychain (earrings are also an option with an additional fee day of the event).tick

Learn the basics of sewing with your own machine while making new friends!

Join us at Lions & Rabbits for a stress-free sewing workshop! Bring your own machine, and a project you are working on! We will be learning the basics of using YOUR machine, proper maintenance and care, and help with trouble shooting machine issues. We will go over pattern reading and using, as well. We will review proper terms for sewing, patterns, and sewing machines. Bring what you have, we can figure out what else you might need. You will be able to choose from a couple small projects, all materials included for each. Your ticket cost includes a gift bag at the beginning of class that will be a collection of little seamstress items that are so helpful, but not often thought of!

Ecoprinting on Paper

In this workshop led by Solstice Handmade, we will explore the technique of ecoprinting to create stunning artworks on watercolor paper made only with plants and the pigments they hold.

Participants will each create a set of 5x7" postcards using a variety of seasonal and native plants to achieve a variety of color.

Feel free to bring plants to experiment with!
