This is a weekly open art studio for anyone who has or is continuing experience addiction of any kind. All art supplies are supplied. Just show up, listen to music, and make art with others who know what it’s like to live with addiction. $10 suggested donation.

Exploratory Play Days

The fall is a busy time with big kids starting school, extra curriculars starting up, and holiday preparations on the horizon. With everything going on, you'll need some space and time to get stuff done and organize your schedule. Bring your little ones to our Exploratory Play Days so they can create masterpieces, explore their different senses, and play with others while you take a break to do what you need to do - without interruption. Christina Threloff will help facilitate your littles to create artwork using different mediums, explore sensations through a different sensory table each week, and provide opportunities for play with a variety of different exploratory stations.

This class is set up for little ones from crawling to elementary school age. Christina has experience as a camp counselor, daycare provider, and is a former special education teacher with a degree in elementary education. While her professional experience is focused on adults with autism, she has extensive personal and professional experience working with children of all ages and abilities.

Some activities we've done at past events: painted rocks, paper airplane flying contest, watercolor resist, painting with tempra paint sticks, coloring, and much more to come!
Other activities to enjoy during the event: wood block building, mega duplo blocks, sensory station with water beads, reading nook, musical instruments, and more!

Applesauce Making with Cellar Door Preserves

Join Cellar Door Preserves' owner and jam maker Zenobia in an evening of applesauce making.

We'll use local apples to create tasty no sugar added applesauce.

Light snacks will be provided, feel free to BYOB.

All materials will be provided and each participant will leave with a jar of preserves, a lovely "How to Can" booklet, and the knowledge of how to confidently can fruit spreads.

A lively, age-appropriate class that purposefully integrates yoga and mindfulness in an energetic and experiential way. This special class also blends cooperative games, breath-work and relaxation ~ nurturing families and creating a safe space for connection and play. The class curriculum is designed for kiddos ages 4 – 11 but please don’t let age turn your family away from attending. If you have younger or older children and feel that your family would benefit from the experience, please join us! We love having babies and tweens in class too!

Join us for 3 hours of live figure modeling, contests and prizes, music, and more at the beautiful Lions & Rabbits gallery. Come draw, paint, sketch, whatever kind of art you do! In a one night only workshop, paint your pet on a 12"x12" canvas with acrylic! Sip on some wine and enjoy a fun class with friends!

OPEN TO BEGINNERS! Please send the instructor THREE reference photos of your dog, cat, horse, bird, or whatever fun pet you have to 'mgraumlichillustrations@gmail.com' at least two days before the workshop. The instructor will sketch out one of your photos onto your canvas before the night of the class. Bring these three images either printed out or digital copies to use as your own reference while painting. 

Supplies included, but please bring an apron/painting shirt. 

Participants are welcome to BYOB. Some snacks and refreshments will be provided.

THREE YEARS. That's right- we made it this far and we feel like we just started!

Join us for a night of socializing. Surround yourself with new, local art and maybe do a little bit of that pre-holiday shopping in our extended handmade store. That's right, we will be slinging a "jacked up" handmade store all weekend long. Get pieces from some of your favorite local artisans before the holidays hit.

Celebrate our local artists with charcuterie, drinks, music and pop up dance performances by Grand Rapids Dance Ensemble from 6pm-9pm.

Can't make it? Stop in the following morning! We will have another day of fun in store on October 27 from 9am-5pm!

Halloween Wildlife Drawing

This Halloween, celebrate by drawing some of nature's spooookiest creatures: Birds of Prey!

Join us for a spooky evening drawing owls and birds of prey from Blandford Nature Center! This unique drawing experience is perfect for a night out or family fun. With instruction and demos by local artist Devin DuMond, you'll be able to draw these magnificent creatures up close and personal. Guarenteed to be a spooky good time!

No previous drawing experience necessary!

Please bring your own drawing materials.

Tables and chairs will be availble plus limited easles/drawing horses.

All are welcome, however this class is best suited for ages 13 and up.

Class includes wildlife presentation, drawing instruction, and time to explore drawing.





Make and Take - Clay Leaf Dish

Make your own leaf dish - cut out the shape from slab clay, smooth the edges, add a texture, and come back the following week to glaze your creation. Artist Lisa Boerema will provide all materials and instruction, as well as a bisque and a glaze firing.

On November 5 from 6-8pm, Lisa will walk you through how to build your dish. Afterwards, it will be fired in a bisque firing to make it hard.

On November 12 from 6-8pm, you will apply your choice of glaze colors. Lisa will then fire the piece again, and you may pick it up at a later date. This class is open to all ages, but paritcipants younger than 12 must have an adult to assit them. Class size is limited to 15 particiapants.

Experientials Art Group: Stepping into the Collage

This month, we will create a collage and then, quite simply, step into it. I will provide all supplies along with an assortment of herbal and black teas. All you need to bring is a dash of imagination to sprinkle upon your opening mind and welcoming heart.

Botanical Resin Casting Workshop

Introductory Resin Casting Workshop where participants will learn the basics of resin casting, and will get to create their own resin art.

Participants will learn the basics of resin casting, techniques using molds and bezels, as well as trouble shooting and working knowledge to move forward in resin casting. Basics of flower pressing will also be discussed, so that in the future you'll be prepared to collect your own botanicals to press and cast in resin. Each participant will be able to create and keep their own piece of resin art, either a necklace or keychain (earrings are also an option with an additional fee day of the event).

Block Printing Basics - Holiday Cards

-this is a two week course, once ticket covers both classes on November 13 and November 20 from 6:30-8:30pm-

We will spend our first class learning about the background of block printing, look at examples and strategies for creating bold and striking images, and carve a 5x7" block.

During our second class, we will explore printing methods and create a set of 10 kraft paper greeting cards feel free to bring your own paper products for printing if you have something special in mind! Participants are welcome to BYOB


Extinct Embroidery: Ivory Billed Woodpecker

Join Solstice Handmade for a night of stitching and socializing surrounded by artwork at Lions & Rabbits Gallery.

We will cover 3 basic embroidery stitches to complete this design of The Ivory Billed Woodpecker. 

This class is fit for both beginners and pros, the class will be split into small groups with periodic demos by Instructor Dayna Walton to allow for all to work at their own pace. Ages 14+ please!

All supplies included, each participant will recieve a printed sampler to stitch, a hoop, thread, needle, and instructional sheet.

This relative of Northern Michigan's Pileated Woodpecker was found in the South Eastern United States in Mature Forests. See Photos from 1935, when they were last confirmed to be sighted here. The birds are said to be "probably extinct" by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology

Mandala Dot Painting

Even those who may not be artistically experienced can enjoy the slow, meditative process of Dot Painting. Although they appear very complex, artist Lisa Boerema will lead you to understand how simple and enjoyable the process really is. You will gain a basic understanding of the history of mandalas, and then create your own design on an 8"x8" canvas panel. All materials are provided.

This class is a great intro for the gourd dot painting class offered on December 4. Join us for a creative, inspirational, and meditative evening!

Dot Painted Gourd Bowl

Come create your own dot painted gourd bowl with artist Lisa Boerema.

Lisa will have all the materials and tools available, including your choice of small gourd bowls. You will be all set to begin creating your own design under Lisa's guidance and demonstrations. Projects are designed to be completed in one class setting, and you may take further steps after class to make your gourd bowl suitable for succulent planting.

This dot technique may look complicated, but with the right tools and guidance, you will find it surprisingly simple and enjoyable. Extra gourds will be made available if you want to create more on your own. It's that fun!

DIY Resin Jewelry: Perfect Handmade Holiday Gifts

Introductory Resin Casting Workshop where participants will learn the basics of resin casting, and will get to create their own resin art.

Extinct Embroidery : Eastern Elk
